BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) -Governor Kelly Armstrong has appointed Levi Bachmeier as North Dakota’s new Superintendent of Public Instruction. Bachmeier will serve the remainder of the current term, which has just over two years left following the early departure of Kirsten Baesler, the previous superintendent.

A native of North Dakota and a proud product of the state’s public school system, Bachmeier graduated from West Fargo High School and earned his education degree from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. He began his career teaching high school social studies for two years through Teach for America and spent a summer as a policy analyst fellow at the U.S. Department of Education.
