PRIOR LAKE, Minn. (Northern News Now) - For many journalists, getting nominated for a regional Emmy is like scoring a top ten hit on the Billboard chart.
Winning a trophy is like scoring a number one.
The Upper Midwest Emmy chapter gathered in Prior Lake over the weekend for a noisy affair with broadcasters from the Dakotas, Minnesota, and Iowa competing.
Small stations like ours go up against places ten times bigger, such as some stations in the Minneapolis market.
“The fact that we got 11 nominations competing against the best of the best just shows what we have here in Duluth,” said Northern News Now news director Michael Baldwin.
Judges in other Emmy chapters around the country decide nominations and award winners for the Upper Midwest.
