HERMANTOWN, Minn. (Northern News Now) - Plans for a massive data center in Hermantown hit a pause Tuesday night after a request from a state agency prompted the city to pull permit items from its agenda.
The proposed project — backed by an anonymous Fortune 50 company — would be roughly the size of two Miller Hill Malls and located near the intersection of Midway Road and Morris Thomas Road.
The Hermantown City Council voted unanimously Monday night to rezone the land for the project after five hours of public comment.
However, when the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission met Tuesday to review and possibly approve permits for the development, the discussion was abruptly halted.
