PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Former Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb is running for Congress in Arizona’s heavily conservative 5th Congressional District.
The seat is currently held by Rep. Andy Biggs, who has served since 2017. He won’t seek reelection because he is running for governor .
A statement of interest was filed on Monday. Officials close to him tell Arizona’s Family that Lamb is formally launching his campaign on Wednesday.
Lamb should be one of the favorites to win the GOP primary, given his eight-year tenure as Pinal County sheriff. Last year, he sought the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate but lost to former local news anchor Kari Lake in the primary to replace then-outgoing independent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema.
