SHREVEPORT, La. -- Following the U.S. Supreme Court’s hearing on Louisiana’s redistricting case Gov. Jeff Landry called a special legislative session starting Thursday.
The call was rather broad and several lawmakers from Northwest Louisiana were divided in what they expected to do in the session; a view echoed by political analyst Barry Erwin.
“It is really a function of when the courts tell us what they are going to do, if they do anything,” Erwin said. “Then we must react on their time frame, and that’s what makes it so hard because we have no idea on that score.”
The session could last a maximum of three weeks — through Nov. 13.
