Climate activist group Rising Tide is reveling in its win after several charges have been dropped against protestors involved in the 2024 People’s Blockade.

A total of 133 people were indicted during last years event on 24 November for causing ‘a serious disruption to a major facility’, the Port of Newcastle.

Four defendants – Noah Bruce-Allen, Roisin McSweeney, Andrew George and Joanna Gardner – faced the courts for a two-day hearing across Monday 20 October and Tuesday 21 October for the offence, which carried a maximum penalty of up to two years imprisonment.

However, they were found not guilty of the charges.
