BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Tuesday is expected to be the warmest day of the week as the ridging pattern over much of the southwest and California continues through the afternoon.

The Valley can expect widespread highs into the 80`s Tuesday afternoon due to this.

On Tuesday night, we expect a significant shift in the pattern, as a weak cut-off low is forecasted to come on shore during the nighttime hours tuesday evening. It will move through the state throughout Wednesday and exit by early Thursday morning.

During that time, nighttime thunderstorms are possible in the early morning hours on Wednesday from 5 a.m. through 8 a.m., with chances of 5-10%. These chances would normally be fairly low for thunderstorms to form, but since they exist before the sun rises to provide thermal lifti
