SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The South Bend Community School Corporation approved to sell the Marquette school building to be re-purposed as a neighborhood center.
According to our reporting partners at the South Bend Tribune the board of trustees Monday night unanimously approved the city to purchase the building and 2.7 acres of property for $60,750.
United Way will turn the area into a one-roof neighborhood center which will provide community programs for education and youth development.
Since the building is listed on the National Register of History places ‘United Way of Saint Joseph’ says the upcoming plans will breathe new life into it while preserving its historic significance.
