SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - There are some new affordable housing units in South Bend coming to the city.

The South Bend Heritage Foundation hosted a special reception on Tuesday to celebrate the opening of 54 new affordable housing units.

The homes are designed to support families of varying sizes and needs in South Bend.

The reception featured ribbon cutting, lunch and guided tours.

One family was excited to go inside the home where they plan to celebrate Christmas this year.

“Open concept is great cause I can keep an eye on it all and my spot is going to be in here. I am definitely going to be the one that’s cooking, cleaning, and doing it all in this wonderful, beautiful place,” said Summer Yeats.
