It shows where our country is at today that thousands feel they have no option but to take to the streets to call for basic improvements in the society in which they live. ‌

The Scotland Demands Better rally this Saturday is expected to attract at least 5000 people from all walks of life who will peacefully parade through Edinburgh before gathering in the Meadows. But this is no ordinary stroll in the park. ‌

Organised by the Poverty Alliance, which represents 400 organisations ranging from churches to charities to trade unions , the event will make a series of key demands. ‌

They want better jobs , better investment in “life’s essentials” – that’s housing, transport, healthcare and education – and better social security.
