A tourist is struggling to eat and just wants to go home after a magpie attack left her with horrific facial injuries, a broken neck bone and mounting hospital bills.
Marcela Montalva Iriarte, 30, says she was attacked by a magpie in Ravenswood, a remote gold-mining town west of Townsville, on October 15 while on a working holiday with her boyfriend, Cristian Orden.
Montalva, from Chile , told 7NEWS.com.au she had borrowed a bicycle on a day off work and was riding to the post office when she noticed “the shadow of the bird” overhead.
“I decided to ride to the post office, about 2km away from Top Camp Roadhouse where I work and live,” she said.
“Halfway there, I was suddenly attacked by a magpie, lost control of the bicycle, and fell hard on the road, hitting the left side of my face
