After firing second-year Southern coach Terrence Graves on Monday after a 1-6 record, athletic director Roman Banks said the university wants to find its next coach soon after the Bayou Classic on Nov. 29 to ensure the new regime has enough time to recruit.
As interim coach Fred McNair leads Southern for the final five games of the regular season, Banks said that he is encouraged that the program will have an extensive search after speaking with his staff about fundraising, as well as seeing the commitment from the Southern University Board of Supervisors, including chairman Tony Clayton.
