Bhubaneswar: A major fire broke out at the busy Unit-I market in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday, sparking panic among people in the area.

As per preliminary information, the fire erupted at a grocery outlet in the afternoon and spread to nearby shops within minutes. At least five shops were engulfed in flames, destroying a huge quantity of goods. ADVERTISEMENT

On being informed, emergency fire service personnel rushed to the spot and launched an operation to douse the flames.

While the exact cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, it was suspected to have been triggered by an electrical short circuit.

While there was no report of any casualty in the incident, traders have suffered huge losses due to the fire mishap.
