About 100 pieces of art from death row inmates are on display at Lourdes University in Sylvania through the end of the month.

Entries range from paintings of wolves and buffalo to landscapes to images of Christ on the cross.

Proceeds from art sales go toward funding college scholarships for family members of murder victims, according to exhibit organizers, the five-member board of Compassion, a local charity that meets monthly at Saint Rose Catholic Church in Perrysburg.

“One of the corporal works of mercy is to visit prisoners, and this is one way that I can reach out and show compassion for those people,” Louise Sarra, a board member, said when asked about the reasons she got involved with the nonprofit and the exhibit.
