DENVER (KDVR) — A hiker who fell just below the summit of Mount Bierstadt, sustaining a lower leg injury, was rescued from the peak by the Alpine Rescue Team.
The team said the rescue marked the second Bierstadt rescue in as many days. On Monday, the injured hiker called for help at about 3 p.m. Because of his leg injury, he was unable to walk.
The search and rescue team responded emergently up Guanella Pass with Clear Creek EMS and the Clear Creek Fire Authority. The Alpine Rescue Team also requested a rescue deployment from Flight for Life Colorado, due to the location of the accident.
