BENTON, Maine — The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a fatal fire that destroyed a home early Wednesday morning on Pleasant Drive in Benton.
Firefighters were called to a home on Pleasant Drive around 2:07 a.m. after a report of a residential fire, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss. When crews arrived, the single-family home was fully engulfed in flames.
Fire departments from Waterville, Albion, Clinton, Skowhegan, and Oakland provided mutual aid to Fairfield-Benton Fire Rescue as crews worked to bring the fire under control. Pleasant Street was temporarily closed during the operation.
