LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The University of Louisville and UofL Health recently received $11.5 million in federal funding to develop new immunotherapies for cancer patients.

The funding from the National Institutes of Health will support research at UofL’s Center for Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy, which has been at the forefront of exciting developments in immunotherapy, using the patients’ own immune system to defeat cancer, since it was established in 2020.

"The funding will support continuing research in the CCII to investigate therapies that activate the immune system against cancer and to train the next generation of cancer researchers and oncologists," according to a UofL Health news release.
