TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - Christopher Scholtes, the Marana father charged with first-degree murder after his 2-year-old daughter died in a hot car, has just pleaded guilty on Wednesday.

Scholtes pleaded guilty for an amended count of second-degree murder and child abuse for the death of his 2-year-old daughter Parker Scholtes.

Scholtes initially rejected a plea deal in March.

On July 9, 2024, 2-year-old Parker Scholtes was found unresponsive in a hot car. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Pima County Attorney's Office released a statement regarding the Scholtes case processing saying:
