FLAGSTAFF, AZ (AZFamily) — At least one person was struck by lightning on Arizona’s highest peak late Wednesday morning.

Deputies with the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to Arizona’s Family that at least one person was struck on Humphreys Peak. Authorities are investigating to see if a second person may have been struck, but details are unknown at this time.

Arizona Snowbowl, a popular getaway destination for skiers and snowboarders, sits on the western slope of Mount Humphreys. Lightning was visible around the state and sparked several fires, including an attic fire and a palm tree fire just miles apart in Avondale.

This is a breaking story. Arizona’s Family will update this story once additional information is gathered.
