A Baton Rouge man was arrested for allegedly taking shots at his ex-wife's new boyfriend after dropping off his daughter at a residence on Lake Crest Avenue.

Shannon Knighten, 49, was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on seven counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of aggravated criminal damage to property and illegal use of a weapon.

Witnesses to the shooting told police that Knighten had arrived at the Lake Crest Avenue residence to drop off his eldest daughter, where she lived with her siblings, her mother and her mother's boyfriend.

After his daughter exited his vehicle, Knighten stayed parked in the driveway, allegedly yelling at the boyfriend, who was sitting under a carport smoking a cigarette.
