CALEDONIA, Ill. (WTVO) — Two people were critically injured Wednesday morning after a SUV collided with a semi-trailer on Illinois 173.

According to the Boone County Sheriff's Office, a 2020 Kenworth semi was headed west on Route 173 around 10:29 a.m. when the driver of a 2015 Acura RDX failed to yield at the Caledonia Road intersection.

Both occupants of the Acura were hospitalized with serious injuries, police said.

The driver of the Kenworth was uninjured.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office, Illinois State Police, and Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) are collaborating on the investigation.
