DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) -- A Decatur man has been sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to a deadly stabbing that happened in January.
In the early morning hours of Jan. 30, 26-year-old Jamarcus Golden of Decatur was stabbed in the area of Church Street and Lealand Avenue. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died. 28-year-old Timothy D. Chatman was identified as a suspect later that day and was arrested in Streaton by the U.S. Marshals Service on Feb. 5.
On Feb. 19, Chatman entered a not guilty plea during a preliminary hearing. On Aug. 6, a jury trial was scheduled for Oct. 20.
On Monday, Chatman appeared in court with his attorney and pleaded guilty to second-degree murder under a plea agreement. The court found that this plea was made knowingly and voluntari
