LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Jefferson County interim Sheriff David James unveiled a new headquarters for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) in downtown Louisville.
JSCO was located in the fiscal court building for 75 years and now the department has moved to 515 W. Market St.
“The building that we had before wasn’t very interactive with the public," James said. "Here it’s at street level, you can come in.”
James will serve Jefferson County until Jan. 2027. He was appointed to replace the late Sheriff John Aubrey.
He said changes for the department are on the horizon.
"We’re going to be working to making the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office a more transparent organization," James said.
