CAIRO, Ill. (WSIL) -- A change in healthcare coverage could affect mental health services for families in Southern Illinois. Meridian Health Plan of Illinois will stop covering GRO Community’s mental health services starting December 1st.

Meridian says it is a business decision, but GRO Community fears it could disrupt care for nearly 500 clients who depend on their services.

"When it comes to this demographic or population of people that we typically target, if they stop seeing that consistency in services, the likelihood of them wanting to trust someone else again to restart that process is kind of low," Dr. Ryan Reed said.
