MONTEVALLO, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Montevallo women’s basketball is set to host their annual ‘Education Day’ game this week in an exhibition vs. Huntingdon College.
The women’s program has been visiting Montevallo Elementary School weekly for the last three years, spending time with students in the carline, classrooms, and P.E. classes, developing relationships with young students.
Falcons head coach Oliva Chapman says it’s important to create those relationships and give back to the community.
“The reason that we come in the mornings, greet them, read to them in their classrooms, [and] spend time with them in P.E. is to build relationships. We want it to be more than just a game; we want to teach our players the importance of giving back to the community.”
