WATERBURY, Conn. — The suspect in a hit and run crash that lead to the death of a man in his 70s is has been arrested, according to city police.

Jesus Gavidia-Vivas, 24, of Waterbury was identified as the suspect.

Police were called to the 800 block of Wolcott Street around 10:20 p.m. on October 22 for reports of a person down on the roadway.

Responding officers found a 74-year-old man with life-threatening injuries. He was taken to an area hospital, where he later died.

Police determined that the man was hit by a vehicle, and the driver left the scene, noting that no one else who was involved in the crash was on scene when officers arrived.
