HICKORY CORNERS, MI –– There was no shortage of rain or candy at the Gilmore Car Museum on Wednesday, Oct. 23.
Despite dreary weather conditions at 46 degrees, the trunk-or-treat tradition lived on and families still showed up in droves.
“Only the hearty are out here today,” Gilmore volunteer Bob Dreger said.
Executive Director Nick LaCasse said the turnout was about 1,500 kids and counting, around 6:30 p.m. compared to a typical 3,000-plus.
The event went until 7:30 p.m.
Nehemiah Woolley, 14, of Hickory Corners, has attended the event for years.
“I like coming out here for the fun ... seeing the cars and (getting) candy,” Woolley said. “Even though it’s raining, it’s still fun just hanging out.”
