Agartala, 23 rd October 2025: A 12-hour statewide shutdown was observed across Tripura today, called by the Civil Society of Tripura to press for the implementation of the tripartite agreement between Tipra Motha, the state government, and the central government. The accord includes provisions for identifying and repatriating illegal immigrants, among other measures aimed at safeguarding indigenous rights.
The bandh, which began early this morning, drew mixed reactions from political leaders. Speaking to reporters, senior legislator Sudip Roy Barman alleged that a faction within Tipra Motha was behind the shutdown, using the banner of the Civil Society of Tripura.
