Drug Takeback collection box at UnityPoint Downtown

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Saturday, Oct. 25, is National Drug Take Back Day.

UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s Downtown will have a collection box in the lobby to safely dispose of those old medications you might still have at home.

National Drug Take Back Day is an opportunity for people to safely dispose of medications that they are no longer using, or are expired.

All kinds of prescriptions and non-prescriptions are accepted at this location.

But UnityPoint won’t accept herbal remedies, vitamins, supplements, cosmetics, other personal care products, medical devices, batteries, mercury-containing thermometers, sharps and illicit drugs.

Pharmacy Director Brett Bieber says this form of disposal ensures the safety of the public and the environment.
