SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Halloween is right around the corner, and that means a night of frights and safety.

As you prepare to take your kids out trick-or-treating, Sioux City Police have a few reminders to make sure you and your family have a great time, and also stay safe.

As the sun sets, it’s best to have a flashlight handy, just in case. Walk together as a group, and keep an eye of those who may be driving while you are out gathering candy.

“Parents need to know that the kids need to be visible, only go to the houses that have their lights on, make sure everyone’s very safe when they’re crossing the street as there’s a lot of traffic and they may not see the little kids, ” said Gina Roberts with the Sioux City Police Department. “Young kids need to be supervised by their parents.”
