PARK COUNTY, Mont. – A coordinated interagency effort successfully evacuated two injured women from the Custer-Gallatin National Forest on Wednesday, October 22, Park County Sheriff’s Office said in a release .
The first incident involved a 60-year-old woman who was injured in a horse accident two miles into the backcountry near Shooting Star Mountain. She was evacuated using ground resources like wheeled-litter and side-by-sides, then transported by Gardiner Ambulance.
During the evacuation, a second horse rider was involved in another accident, sustaining less serious injuries. This patient was evacuated by horseback and side-by-side but declined further medical assistance.
