LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
John Asher, known as the voice of Churchill Downs, received a Hometown Heroes banner in Louisville several years after his passing.
Asher's banner was unveiled on Presentation Academy's historic tower at the corner of West Breckenridge and South Fourth streets on Oct. 27.
“This tower was designed by the same architect who designed the twin spires at Churchill Downs,” said Mike Sheehy, president and founding member of Greater Louisville Pride Foundation (GLPF). “It’s a great location for John’s banner as while he was known around the globe as a walking encyclopedia of horse racing and the Kentucky Derby, this historic tower represents his benevolent support of so many worthy causes in Louisville, especially this all-girl school which was so near and dear to his heart.”
