SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — A San Angelo mother of four received a heartwarming surprise this week as part of KLST’s Pay It Forward campaign, sponsored by Carpet Tech.

KLST’s Tammy Ramos met with Jennifer Bateman of Alcohol and Drug Awareness Center for the Concho Valley, who nominated her coworker and close friend, Trista Vernon, for this week’s $300 gift.

"I’ve worked with her for a few years here. Her name is Trista Vernon, and I just wanted to nominate her because unless you ask what’s going on, you wouldn’t know the hardships that she’s going through," said Bateman. "She just opened up about now being a single mom of four. This will shock her. Just helping out this week alone—getting the kids groceries that they need and bills to be paid—I know she’ll be so grateful
