MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A new letter confirms what FOX13 has been reporting for weeks.
In a matter of days, 42 million people could lose access to SNAP benefits, according to a letter from the U.S. Department of Agriculture obtained by FOX News.

"If the current lapse in appropriations continues, there will be insufficient funds to pay full November SNAP benefits," wrote Ronald Ward, the acting associate administration for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, on October 10th.
"It's really scary," said Katie Growden, the Tennessee manager for Save the Children Action Network. "It's an incredibly scary time for families."
