KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Hamblen County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after finding two people dead in a home in East Hamblen County around 9:45 Thursday night.

According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, deputies were called to the home and found a man and woman shot and unresponsive. A gun was on the floor nearby, the office said.

“Deputies cleared and secured the scene and detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division were called to conduct the investigation,” the news release said.

The investigation is ongoing, the office said.
