PHILLIPSBURG - An Essex County man wanted in connection with a summer shooting in Phillipsburg was arrested Thursday, October 23, 2025.

Authorities say 22-year-old Karim D. Thomas, of Newark, was taken into custody in Phillipsburg by the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, working in coordination with the Phillipsburg Police Department.

Thomas was wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025, Acting Warren County Prosecutor Jessica Cardone confirmed.

Thomas was charged on September 8 with second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of an unpermitted handgun, aggravated assault by discharging a firearm, and fourth-degree criminal mischief for property damage linked to the shooting.
