DES MOINES, Iowa — The Iowa Department of Public Safety’s Office of Drug Control Policy is urging residents to participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on October 25. This event offers a safe and anonymous way for Iowans to dispose of unused or expired medications.

In April, the spring collection saw over 7,515 pounds of unwanted medicine turned in by Iowans. Overall, more than 111 tons of medications have been safely disposed of at these events.
