COLUMBIA, S.C. — Emergency management professionals from Charleston County and Spartanburg County are heading to Alaska to assist with storm response and recovery following severe weather that has caused significant damage across the state.
The deployment is being coordinated through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) — a national mutual aid system that allows states to share resources and personnel during disasters.
“South Carolinians know all too well the devastation that severe flooding brings,” said Governor Henry McMaster. “Just as other states have answered our call for assistance in times of need, South Carolina is ready to return that same support to Alaska.
