A research collaboration between the University of Connecticut and Eversource aims to change the way utilities prepare for outages, using the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to improve weather forecasting.
"What we do is try to improve prediction of extreme weather events in the Northeast — think about hurricanes, thunderstorms, severe thunderstorms and all that,” Dr. Marina Astitha, associate professor of civil and environmental engineering at UConn, said.
