DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - One group in Duluth is celebrating 50 years of lending a hand in protecting victims of sexual assault in the Twin Ports.

On Thursday at Clyde Iron Works, the Program for Aid to Victims of Sexual Assault (PAVSA), which works to eliminate sexual violence, held its largest event of the year.

The 50th anniversary event served as a chance to spread awareness and collaborate with the community to showcase the support available for those who may feel alone.

“It helps break that stigma, and it helps show that the whole community wants survivors to access services. To get what they need, to begin their path to healing, and ultimately thrive and live the lives they want to live,” said Mary Faulkner, the Executive Director of PAVSA.
