HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. (WTAJ) — Blair County is asking for a federal lawsuit filed by a former inmate who was attacked while in the prison's custody to be dismissed.

The lawsuit was filed in September by Larry Lykens, who was allegedly attacked inside the prison by murder suspect Raymond Oechsle, Jr. It named the county, Blair County Prison, the prison board and Oechsle as defendants.

The county is now denying all responsibility for any damages Lykens may have suffered in an answer filed by the county in the lawsuit.

Lykens was stabbed in the face and eyes, allegedly by Oechsle. He argues that the prison knew Oechsle was violent and should not have been housed with other prisoners.
