Pedestrians fear being mown down and even killed by dangerous e-scooters - as police seizures surge and crash numbers drop.

Riding the vehicles on public roads, cycle paths, or walkways is illegal. But despite officers confiscating a record number last year, Kent residents say the threat - particularly to the elderly - is still very real.

Folkestone resident Malcolm Brooks applauded the police’s efforts, but thinks more should be done to control the supply of the battery-powered scooters.

“If you go to the shops, they’re loaded out with e-scooters,” observed Mr Brooks.
