Cape Cod Community College President John Cox has been placed on paid administrative leave.
The college's board of trustees met Thursday evening in executive session and voted the action. The trustees have not made their reasons public yet.
"We know that this action understandably raises many questions. As this matter relates to an ongoing personnel issue, however, we are unable to provide further information at this time," board chairwoman Tammy Glivinski-Saben wrote in a note addressed to students and staff.
"If and when information becomes available that we are able to share with the College Community, we will notify you as soon as possible," she continued. "As a Board, we remain committed to full transparency while balancing our commitment to keeping personnel matters confidential."
