TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Hillsborough County is asking residents for input on a proposal that would exchange property for a new equestrian facility.
The proposal involves exchanging the Bakas Equestrian Center, located off Race Track Road in Tampa, for a new, modern facility at the county-owned Northwest Equestrian Park nearby.
The Bakas Equestrian Center has served the community for more than 20 years and is limited to 9.26 usable acres only accessible through a residential neighborhood. This restricts the ability for program growth and public access altogether.
Through a request for proposals (RFP) process, the county is currently exploring the development of a new, modernized facility at the county-owned Northwest Equestrian Park, located at 10711 S. Mobley Road in Odessa, 2.3 miles from
