(WAVY) - DoorDash announced it is launching a nationwide emergency food response as the federal government shutdown is impacting food aid.
The company plans on delivering the equivalent of 1 million free meals through food banks. It is also waiving delivery and service fees on grocery orders for customers who have previously verified their SNAP status.
The government shutdown is expected to impact the SNAP benefits of more than 40 million Americans. As benefits dry up, food banks are bracing for overwhelming demand.
