Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels picked up a massive win on Saturday afternoon, further cementing their spot near the top of the SEC conference standings and strengthening their case for a spot in the College Football Playoff. With a 34-26 victory over the No. 13 Oklahoma Sooners, Kiffin's No. 8 Rebels improved to 7-1 on the season, and now stand as one of five SEC teams in the top 10.

In addition to that, Kiffin also set himself up for a payday, as well. With the victory, Ole Miss' seventh of the year, Kiffin triggered an automatic one-year contract extension with the Rebels, per USA TODAY's Steve Berkowitz.

Ultimately, that may not matter much, considering that Kiffin's future with the team has been the subject of recent conversation with the coaching carousel churning at a rapid rate. With the Rebels running, other programs are likely to try to poach Kiffin this offseason, with the Florida Gators being the most likely option.

Because of that, Kiffin will likely be gone after this season, working on a new, restructured, and higher-paying deal with Ole Miss.

Nonetheless, he set himself up for the extension on Saturday, while the Rebels are set up for a special season if things keep going as they are.
