VERNON, Connecticut — This week, the Vernon Public Schools community celebrated the opening of a new Natural Resources and Aquaculture Lab at Rockville High School.
The lab is meant to spark more growth for the school’s popular Agricultural Science and Technology Education program, or Rockville ASTE.
A green ribbon ceremony was held at Rockville High School on Thursday. Student leaders from the program’s FFA chapter cut the ribbon, while a group of students, local officials and community members cheered them on.
Aquaculture involves the farming of aquatic organisms, including fish, shellfish and plants, in controlled environments like freshwater and saltwater systems. This is accomplished through breeding, rearing and harvesting the organisms for commercial, recreational or conservati
