Lou Berry almost had a hard time believing it.
After being reminded University Prep hadn’t won the City League championship since 2016, the Wildcats coach shook his head as if to say, “It was really that long ago, huh?”
Well, the nine-year wait came to an end Saturday afternoon at Cupples Stadium. Immediately after University Prep bested Westinghouse — winners of the last three City League titles — 26-0, the Wildcats players showered Berry with an ice bath from the orange Gatorade cooler.
“Surreal, unbelievable, especially the way we performed,” Berry said. “We were dominant today. We knew we had it in us.”
