A West Lothian resident who was woken by his dog to thick black smoke in his house has opened up on the terrifying experience.
Terry Fairley, 41, was roused from his sleep by his twelve-year-old Labrador Skye at around 2am on August 21. His loyal pooch was trying to alert him of the blaze that had broken out in his home on Mushet Road in Livingston , with the fire alarms in the kitchen allegedly having not gone off.
After Terry 'crawled through the smoke' to get the house phone, fire crews arrived and tackled the flames. He was told the blaze most likely started due to a USB charger left plugged in.
