MADISON, (WKOW) -- Families gathered at the Henry Vilas Zoo Saturday for the annual Boo at the Zoo event, a free community celebration combining Halloween fun with conservation education.
Volunteer Coordinator Lauren Salzman said Boo at the Zoo is one of the zoo’s busiest events of the year.
“It’s a day where the community can come together and really enjoy costumes, free face painting, and free train and carousel rides,” Salzman said. “It’s a blast.”
This year, organizers added new activities to highlight the zoo’s conservation programs. Ilana Vargas, also a Volunteer Coordinator, said the goal is to show families how simple actions can support the environment.
